Northern Skies
This is an exhibition of photographs taken at Blundellsands near Liverpool . The photographs were motivated by two drives, as Jessica explains:
This work is about my personal reaction to the landscape.
The empty beach near my childhood home holds a wealth of
emotional charge for me. Looking into the distance at a
thunderstorm on the horizon forces me to engage with my inner
world of thoughts, wishes and memories. It holds up a mirror to me.
The vast skies are complex and ever-changing. People may look at a grey overcast sky and dismiss it as dismal and
uninteresting . But I find that such skies have an immense beauty and subtlety of shape and colour within the greyness. This is what I want to capture in my images.
